History: A native of the Jungle Planet, Snarl was a student of Backstop along with Scourge. When Scourge left Backstop to unite the planet under his command, Snarl went with him to keep an eye on him. When Overhaul challenged Scourge, Snarl grabbed Overhaul just before Scourge destroyed him. When Overhaul challenged Scourge a second time, Snarl watched from the shadows. He was discovered by Megatron, who threw him into Overhaul. Scourge called him a traitor and attacked. Overhaul turned into Leobreaker and rescued Snarl. When Leobreaker had a disagreement with Optimus Prime and fled to the mountain, Snarl followed him to try to talk sense to him. Snarl revealed the past about Backstop, Scourge and himself.

Snarl is master of the darkest, most wild places on the Jungle Planet, and it is through his cunning that the Jungle Planet rebels have survived long enough to team up with their new Autobot allies. He is a 'bot of few words, preferring constant action to hiding and resting. Despite this, he is a clever fighter and a careful planner, never putting his soldiers at unnecessary risk, and never leaving a 'bot behind to be tortured by his sworn enemy Scourge.
